Tigiria -: In an incident that took place on June 16 last year in Bindhanima village under Tigiria Police Station, a police vehicle that had gone to the village during a disturbance was attacked by unruly individuals. During the attack, the police vehicle was vandalized, and the driver Gagan Behera along with Constable Prashant Behera sustained injuries.
In connection with this incident, Tigiria police have arrested three accused individuals — Yugala Kishore Sahu, Ranjan Kumar Sahu, and Gagan Bihari Sahu from Tanti Sahi in Bindhanima — and presented them before the court today, according to Tigiria Police Station IIC Samarendra Paikaray.
It is worth noting that two days before the police vehicle attack, on the night of June 14 last year, truck driver Dillip Sahu and his associate from Bindhanima village were attacked near the Pankal oil tank area under the Jemadeipur Panchayat, which falls under Tigiria Police limits. Dillip had stopped his truck near the intersection for some work when both he and his companion were violently assaulted. Their money and mobile phones were looted, and the truck was also damaged.
Following this, on the night of June 16, Dillip and his associate, driven by revenge, reportedly brought a youth named Omprakash Nayak from Jemadeipur Panchayat to Bindhanima village and brutally assaulted him. Upon receiving information about this incident, Tigiria police rushed to the scene in a patrol vehicle. However, the accused allegedly attacked the police vehicle with stones upon seeing it, leading to further unrest.
This led to the arrests and today’s court presentation of the three individuals mentioned above.
