
NUAPADA Report by Journalist Niranjan Tripathy -: In a massive crackdown on narcotics, Nuapada excise officials have seized a staggering 13.26 quintals of ganja under Komna police limits in the district on Friday.
According to reports, acting on reliable inputs, an excise team intercepted the pick up truck carrying the ganja haul near Kendubhata village in Komna. As the accused trio did not stop, the team followed the vehicle but after a brief chase, the accused abandoned the vehicle in a nearby forest and fled the spot. During search, the team recovered 13.26 quintals of ganja besides also seized the identity proofs of the accused and the vehicle.

The accused on the run have been identified as Kuber Nag (29), Jitendra Nag (30), Prafulla Bag (24) all from Nuapada district.
Excise Superintendent, Sanghamitra Pradhan said, “The value of the seized Ganja is around Rs. 1.5 crores. An absconding case has been registered against the accused and a manhunt has been launched to nab them. While it is yet to be ascertained the origin and destination of the vehicle, we are suspecting they could be transporting it from Kandhamal Chhattisgarh. Further investigation is underway.”
