
NUAPADA(Niranjan Tripathy)-: In a successful raid, the Police apprehended seven gamblers and seized significant assets under Jonk police limits Nuapada, on the night of Sunday.
According to reports, on Sunday evening, a team led by SI, A. Meher conducted a raid after receiving reliable information about a gang of gamblers operating under the Jonk River Railway Bridge on Khariar Road.
The police caught the accused red handed and seized Rs. 17,320 in cash, five mobile phones, five motorcycles, and playing cards from the spot. The accused were identified as Asish Agrawal(40), S. Balaji Rao(45), Ghasuram Patwa(50), Pratap Singh Thakur(51), Binod Das(36), Dinesh Kore(35), Vicky Soni(38), all residents from Khariar Road, Jonk and Nuapada police limits.
Jonk IIC, Pradeep Dharua said, “The arrested individuals have been forwarded to the court of SDJM Nuapada on Monday. Investigations revealed that the accused persons have previous involvements in gambling, money circulation, and price cheating banning act cases. A manhunt has been launched to nab another accused Babu Khan, who is on the run.”
