New Delhi -: The true nature of the protests launched in the name of national interest, demands to reform the system, and students’ welfare is now becoming clear, according to Sambalpur MP and former Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. He has launched a sharp attack on the Congress party and Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, alleging that openly calling for a “change of power” and citing Bangladesh as an inspiration reveals an attempt to create unrest in the country and destabilise the political system under the guise of student movements.
In his statement, Sambalpur MP Dharmendra Pradhan wrote, “Those anti-national elements who dream of coming to power with the support of foreign forces should understand that a change of government in India is determined only through the democratic process. Therefore, the people of India will never accept such undemocratic ideas.”
Pradhan alleged that Rahul Gandhi, whom he accused of repeatedly facing electoral defeats, was continuously disrespecting the public mandate. He claimed that Congress was attempting to create distrust in democratic institutions because it had failed to achieve the results it wanted through the electoral process. He further alleged that the party’s objective was to inconvenience the public for political gains. According to Dharmendra Pradhan, these actions reflect what he described as the anti-democratic mindset of the Congress party, which he claimed had previously undermined the rights of citizens.
He also accused Rahul Gandhi of acting against the Constitution despite carrying a copy of it in public. Pradhan claimed that voters had repeatedly rejected Rahul Gandhi, yet, driven by the desire for power, he continued to question the public mandate and constitutional institutions, thereby undermining the dignity of democracy. Dharmendra Pradhan described what he characterised as Rahul Gandhi’s hostility towards democracy as deeply shameful.
