Panaji -: Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, has targeted the BJP, claiming that the Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre is nearing the end of its time in power.
Addressing the concluding rally of the Congress party’s ‘Goa Bachao Yatra’ in Margao, Goa, on Sunday, Rahul Gandhi criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Raising allegations of vote theft, Rahul Gandhi claimed that Gyanesh Kumar was implementing a plan to steal votes, Amit Shah was giving it shape, and Prime Minister Modi was leading the effort from behind the scenes. He said the leaders involved in these alleged activities would eventually have to be held accountable. Referring to the more than 45 defamation cases against him, Rahul questioned why no specific case had been filed against him over his allegations of vote theft.
Rahul also took a dig at Prime Minister Modi’s earlier “56-inch chest” remark, questioning where that confidence had gone. He further alleged that pellet guns were being used against students in Delhi who were raising their voices against alleged vote theft, unemployment and rising education costs. In Goa, Rahul Gandhi criticised the BJP government over issues including land grabbing, changes in land use, unemployment and corruption. He appealed to voters to give the Congress party a full majority in the upcoming elections.
Rahul also took part in a march of approximately two kilometres alongside Congress leaders and party workers. The ‘Goa Bachao Yatra’, which began on September 22, covered all 40 Assembly constituencies in Goa. Ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections, the Congress party has made the protection of Goa’s land, environment, culture and identity the central focus of its campaign.
