Paramount -: U.S. President Donald Trump has ordered the deployment of 2,000 California National Guard troops to control protests in Los Angeles. However, the state government has opposed this move. On Friday, federal immigration officers arrested 44 people in Los Angeles for allegedly violating immigration laws. Following this, clashes occurred outside a federal detention center. Officers used tear gas shells to disperse people who had gathered to protest the actions.

In an official statement, the White House said President Donald Trump deployed National Guard troops in California to deal with increasing unrest. California Governor and Democratic Party leader Gavin Newsom opposed the decision and shared a post on social media platform X, saying that Republican leaders and President Trump’s actions will only escalate tensions. Newsom stated, “This mission is not right. It will break the public’s trust and faith in the government.”

On Friday, during a major raid in the Fashion District of Los Angeles, immigration agency ICE detained 44 individuals. Protests erupted across the city afterward and continued until Saturday. Protesters chanted slogans like “Free Everyone” and demanded to “Stop Deportations.”
On Saturday, clashes broke out between police and protesters during a demonstration in the Paramount area. Police used tear gas and flash bombs. Protesters attacked federal buildings and painted anti-ICE graffiti in some areas.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said, “We have a zero-tolerance policy, especially when violence is directed at law enforcement. Such criminals are arrested immediately.” Trump’s border chief Tom Homan stated, “Securing Los Angeles is our top priority, and the mayor should be thanked for that.”
California Governor Gavin Newsom described the federal raid as “chaotic and inhumane.” Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass said, “ICE has been grabbing people off the streets, creating fear and distrust among the community.”
SEIU Union President David Huerta was arrested for allegedly obstructing officers.
