Tigiria -: In Nandapur village under Hatamala Panchayat of Tigiria police limits, a man is currently constructing a new house on his private land. However, it has come to light that villagers, alleging encroachment on adjacent government land, have fenced the government land surrounding the construction site with bamboo until proper land measurement is carried out.
As a result, the person building the house is facing serious difficulties in accessing the main road from his home and has lodged a complaint at Tigiria police station.
According to the information, Narayan Sahu, Nilamani Sahu, and their family own about 7 gunths of land near Kanaka Pokhari in Nandapur village. Narayan Sahu stated that the land was purchased by his family in 1971. The land is bordered on the west, north, and south by government land, and on the east by land belonging to a local resident. The government land on three sides has long been used by villagers as a public pathway.
Previously, villagers had requested Narayan and Nilamani Sahu to provide them access through their land in exchange for some money. However, the family rejected the proposal. About a year ago, Narayan and Nilamani began constructing a new house on their property.
Villagers then objected, alleging that part of the house was being built by encroaching on government land, and without any discussion with the community. They demanded that construction be allowed only after a government survey. Although the land had been measured several times by revenue inspectors, Narayan and Nilamani went ahead with the construction, ignoring the villagers’ objections.
Frustrated by this, on the 2nd of this month, villagers gathered and fenced the surrounding government land with bamboo, effectively cutting off access from the house to the main road.
As a result, Narayan and Nilamani are now facing significant trouble exiting their premises. Nilamani has reportedly filed a written complaint at Tigiria police station regarding the issue.
