Tigiria -: In Kalibiri village under Gadadharapur Panchayat and Tigiria police limits, the village road leading from the Rural Development Department road to the revered temple of Lord Mahima Sagar is flooded with knee-deep rainwater during the current monsoon. This has caused severe inconvenience to thousands of residents, including many students, who depend on this road for daily commute.
It has been reported that due to the lack of a drainage system on both sides of the road, rainwater is not draining properly and remains accumulated, turning the road into a waterlogged path.
Sources confirm that although more than a thousand people in Kalibiri village are affected, the worst-affected are those from the areas most dependent on this road—Bada Sahi, Sana Sahi, Kaibartya Sahi, Mahanti Sahi, and Kamena Sahi.
Additionally, several important institutions lie along this road, including the village school, a newly constructed health center, an Anganwadi center, and the Lord Mahima Sagar temple. Hundreds of students and locals use this road every day. However, due to the ongoing rainfall and water accumulation, commuting has become extremely hazardous.
Though the administration had sanctioned funds for constructing a drainage system alongside this road long ago, the work has not yet been completed. As a result, residents of Kalibiri continue to suffer year after year.
The local population is now demanding that the administration complete the drainage construction work before the next monsoon season begins, in order to resolve this persistent issue.
